Cucumber

Cucumis sativus
Sow cucumber seeds indoors 1.5 cm deep   4-5 weeks before frost free date and keep warm ( above 21 Celsius) Do not disturb roots when transplanting outdoors.  Can also be direct seeded outdoors once the soil has warmed to 21 degrees Celsius. Space plants 20 cm apart in rows 1.5 m apart. If cucumber beetles are a problem, cover the young plants with floating row covers until they start to flower then remove cloth so pollination can occur. Harvest frequently once plants begin to bear to ensure a steady supply of crisp cucumbers.
