Bloody Butcher Dent Corn
Gorgeous corn in shades of bright red, burgundy, deep purple and black this is one of the oldest corn varieties we have grown. Said to be a cross between a Native American corn and one settlers brought with them, records mention it as far back as 1845. Tall plants can reach 3-4m. with ears reaching 20-25cm in length. Can be eaten fresh at the milk stage as sweet corn but we like it best dried and ground into flour or cornmeal. Makes colourful cornbread and dried ears make great decorations.
