Broccoli
Direct seed outdoors as soon as the chance of hard frost has passed or start indoors 4-6 weeks before planting out date. Sow seed .5 cm deep and keep moist until seedlings emerge. Space plants 20-30 cm apart in rows spaced 45 cm apart. Fertile, moist soil and cool weather produces the best broccoli. Spring, early summer and fall crops are the best quality. Harvest the main head and allow side shoots to develop for ongoing harvest. If flea beetles are a problem, cover young plants with row covers.
