Lupine

Soak seeds overnight or rub lightly with sandpaper to scarify before sowing. Sow seeds 1.2 cm deep 6-8 weeks before planting out date for transplants or sow outside as soon as the soil can be worked in spring. Germination is best in total darkness. Fluctuating day and night temperatures also help germination. Lupines do not like to be transplanted so be gentle with the roots or grow in fibre pots and plant pot and all. Grow in full sun. To harvest for cut flowers, cut flower spike when 80% of blooms are open.
