Ironweed

Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date. Seed will germinate more uniformly if cold moist stratified before sowing. To do this, sprinkle seed on a damp paper towel, roll up and place in a sandwich bag in the fridge for 30-60 days. When ready to sow, scrape seed off paper towel and sprinkle lightly on soil surface. Cover lightly and water. Can be direct seeded outdoors in the fall or very early spring for natural stratification. Give plants room to grow by spacing them approx. 1 m. apart. Divide clumps every 3-4 years. Perennial.
