Glass Gem

Gorgeous, translucent kernels on stunning colourful cobs reminiscent of stained glass.  Hard to believe the colour-range with jewel-tone kernels in purple, pink, blue, green, pale white, gold, yellow and orange. Each ear is unique, with no two cobs having the same colour combinations. A very popular decorative corn, Glass Gem also grinds into tasty cornmeal, or pops into a delicious popcorn. Developed by Carl Barnes, a part-Cherokee farmer and breeder from Oklahoma who devoted his life to the preservation of traditional Native American corn varieties. Our strain matures reliably in our zone 5 fields and produces 15-20cm  (6-8in) fresh cobs.
