Little Bluestem

Another grass of the tallgrass prairie. This is one of the shortest grasses in the prairie, reaching 1 m. or so. Late in the season, fluffy white seed heads contrast beautifully with the warm orangey colours of the autumn foliage. Grassy foliage provides cover and nesting habitat for ground nesting birds.
