Flageolet Merveille Dry Bean
Tender flageolet beans originated in France and are an essential part of traditional French cooking. These are a treat when harvested from the pods just before they fully mature, almost like shelling peas. The fresh seeds will be a mix of white and celadon green and can be cooked up right away into a lovely smooth soup or in any recipe calling for navy beans. Allow the pods to dry thoroughly then crack them open for a winter supply of dry beans. These are specialty beans that command a high price at market but are easy to grow in your home garden. They are very productive in our zone 5 garden.
Phaseolus vulgaris
Days to Maturity: 78 fresh, 90 dry
