Guatemalan Blue

Grown in Guatemala for more than 1000 years this tasty winter squash will be grown on our farm as long as I’m able to garden. The beautiful blue-grey faintly-striped fruits are produced in abundance on vigorous vines. The thick, dense flesh is what gets my attention with its dark orange colour, smooth, creamy texture and sweet (almost fruity) nutty flavor.  Medium to large fruits are ~50cm long and weigh 3-6kg each. They store really well. Cut them in half lengthwise and stuff or cut rings of flesh for roasting, braising or baking.
