Scarlet Ohno Revival
Round to slightly flattened 5cm roots are brilliant magenta on the outside and white with pink streaks on the inside. These beautiful little turnips are mild, tasty and very cruchy. They make magnificent pickles and are delicious braised. And there’s more. The leaves are smooth and hairless and cook up into a delicious mess of greens when tossed with olive oil and garlic. This is another genius offering from Frank Morton of Wild Garden Seeds. Frank says that there are still a few brilliant purple monsters in the mix for those of you who like surprises. Who know turnips could be so versatile.
