Aleppo Pepper

a.k.a. Near East or Halaby, this slightly hotter than a jalapeno all-purpose chili clocks in at around 10,000 Scoville units. Named after the Syrian city of the same name this fruity and tangy pepper has enough punch to kick any dish up a notch. Great for drying and using crushed or roasting. Some say the complex flavour is a cross between cumin and cayenne. You tell us.
