Poppy - Giganteum
Poppy - Giganteum
Huge, elongated seed pods are blue-grey when fresh and dry down to a soft chamois and grey colour. They are beautiful in the vase as well as in swags and wreaths. Silky flowers are pink with splotches of lavender-purple above glaucous blue-green foliage on plants that reach over 1.5 m. Each pod is filled with an abundance of edible blue-grey poppy seeds which are great in baking, grain bowls and salad dressings. It is a farm tradition around here to have lemon poppy seed cake for staff birthday lunches. Easy to grow, self-sowing, and breathtaking in mass plantings.
